I have a good friends wedding coming up and I am wondering how much money I should give them? Are you meant to cover your own costs for the wedding, or if it’s a good friend, are you meant to pay more? How much money for a wedding gift?

  • I generally spend about $100. It doesn’t matter if they’re not close friends.

  • We do $100 for weddings

  • I think these days its $100

  • For a family member $100 For a friend I would give $50

  • Typically $50-$60 as that’s all we can afford otherwise we put in with a couple of people to get them something big they needed, this way they’re happy either way.

  • I tend to give $100 for most weddings.

  • I normally do if its good friend of mine max 100$

  • We do $50….

  • I was always told give what a good meal out would cost at a nice restaraunt but really it has to fit with what you can afford too

  • Last wedding I went to I gave $50 because I couldn’t afford more.
If your friend expects you to cover for food then they would send you the bill. Thing is, you don’t know how much they are spending so don’t think that’s a good approach.
Your presence will mean a lot more.
My childhood friend forgot to come to my wedding. I appreciated the guests who gave $0 and made the effort to turn up.
So it depends what people find important.

  • 100$ per adult (if you are going with partner then 200$ ) and 50$ kid

  • I would give 100 dollars. But if they are very good friends, probably a little more.

  • Depends on what you can afford.
If you can’t afford much, get a personalised gift like a canvas or chopping board (you can get these online for under $30)

  • Usually I would cover cost per person. So if they are paying 100 and you are a couple then give them $200. As a good friend you could give a little extra.. just depends on what you can afford
