  • Only do what you can afford its not about the money its about celebrating there special day ????

  • 200$ in a card is fantastic these days

  • I try to cover the cost of what it would be to host me at the wedding, which is usually $70 a head but generously give between $100 to $200

  • I would post what you think that you can afford. People think that it should be roughly what the meal costs.

  • Thanks for all of the wishing well money tips – we have now settled on an amount for the wishing well! :)

  • I think it all depends on how close you are with the bride/groom, we usually do $50pp for friends, family we usually put alittle more :)

  • Thanks so much for all of the answers for the wishing well – been super helpful! Awesome community! :)

  • Depends on how close you are to the couple, etc. I know a family that used to go to heaps of weddings and they would ask how much the bride and groom were spending on the food. If it was $50 a head for example, they would put $50 in for each of their family members going to the wedding.

  • For our wedding most people put $50 per person. I don’t think anyone is going to be upset if you just give whatever you are happy to give though. I personally was just happy with a nice personal card.

  • It depends how close you are to the couple and what you can personally afford.

  • Definitely no standard amount it varies widely. I think you need to take into consideration what you would have spent on a present and what you think would be reasonable if it was you. I know most people don’t but I know people who would put in what they would have spent on a night out.

  • No there’s no standard amount. When my son went to a wedding that had one of these and he was stressing because he was broke. I told him to just chuck $10 in, no one will know if it’s all just put in together. But apparently you put it in a card so the couple know who gave what. So you can’t get out of it cheaply!
