Are there any special things you should do to prepare your body for pregnancy? Folic acid supplements were recommended but is there anything else to do with diet or other for the best pregnancy possible?

  • Folic acid and iodine supplements are so important. Blackmores makes a great one that just has these two. Or take a larger multivitamin.

    I found before getting pregnant exercise and food was important, but as a stress relief type thing. Definitely try to eliminate stress. If possible try not to put too much pressure on yourself to get pregnant. We have had friends who were so stressed they weren’t getting pregnant that they gave up on it. And sure enough once they stopped worrying about it they got pregnant!

    You may want to find pregnancy books or apps before you conceive so you can play around and find the ones you really like.

    The best advice is do what makes you calm and happy.


  • I generally ate well, exercised and got lots of sleep. No extra vitamins or minerals or supplements. I had healthy babies


  • Also; try to eliminate stress and do a form of exercise that relaxes the body and mind such as walking, yoga or stretches.


  • Try find a good pregnancy friendly yoga or Pilates routine you enjoy and find a time to fit it in daily. That way if you end up quite tired during early pregnancy you will already know the routine and it will already fit in with your lifestyle so it will be easier to keep at it :) and of your partner smokes it would be really great if you could get them to quit (you too if you smoke) best of luck :) X


  • Folic acid is indeed really important. If you and/or your partner are smoking, I would suggest to stop it.


  • Exercise to stay fit and eat well for good nutrition. Ideally this should continue through pregnancy too.
