  • Word of mouth and advertising in local schools

  • There are companies that hire tutors. Maybe you could ask them what is required to be a tutor.

  • I starting tutoring through friends, with their children first. I then got further work via word of mouth. In the community groups that I am in, people are often asking for tutors in our local area. If I am able to take on their child as a client I message through my details and rate etc.

  • Thank you ladies. Im currently studying cert 4 in education support so i have my working with children’s check. I will suss out the courses.

  • If you plan on tutoring minors then make sure you get a working with children check.

  • Search for Tutor certification and Tutoring – Become a tutor and Check out “Accredited Tutor” as well.

  • You need to be able to advertise your skills and get clients. Often it’s done through schools or uni but it depends what you want to tutor in.

  • Most tutors are retired teachers or teachers on leave. However you could possibly get some work if you do a certificate in education assistance at TAFE. It is about demonstrating you have the knowledge of the curriculum….technically, as a private independent contractor, you do not have to really be qualified just knowledge with working with children clearances and people willing to hire you. Gumtree us a popular place to advertise.
