how to make sure baby is warm enough over night, without overheating?

Hello!

I’m expecting my first winter baby (other two were born spring and summer) and was wondering how to make sure baby is warm enough over night, without overheating? Especially with this erratic weather we are having where it’s freezing and wet one minute and then sunny and warm the next. By the time my other two saw their first winter they had enough “fat” stores to provide some warmth. Baby will be rooming in with us so I will, obviously, be able to monitor the overall room temperature just not too sure with a new born.

I had a winter bub who only weighed 2.6 kgs so I was supper paranoid about keeping him warm I was told As a guide, dress your baby in the same number of layers you’re wearing, plus one extra layer for warmth. They will wake if still cold and you add another layer etc! I had only a couple of layers on him but had a heater in our room as well

Dress bub in warm pyjamas and as many covers as you have on your bed. I assume you have some kind of home heating? Baby will wake if too cold

I got the noirot heater for which you can set up the temp and will maintain it the whole night

A sleeping bag for newborn 100%! No blankets or hats etc that they can suffocate on.
