Hello!

My 11 month old is super aggressive. She keeps smacking us in the face every chance she gets. She is also a biter. Has anyone had success putting an end to this behaviour?

*Please note we parent gently so I would appreciate it if suggestions of biting her back were not suggested as I will not even contemplate that option.

  • Just a firm no, walk away, put her down eg so she doesn’t get the attention.

  • I don’t know what to suggest other than speaking with a professional in this field. Otherwise, I do like Mom205552’s suggestion.

  • We struggled with this at about the same age. It was a hard process but I would always put him down and tell him it hurt. I always explained to him that it was naughty and he now very, very rarely lashes out but it didn’t stop overnight and we got lots of you just need to smack him etc but perseverance paid off in the end.

  • Try some planned ignoring, that is say” I am not going to play/cuddle/talk to you if you are going to bite/hit me” and wait for the behaviour to subside, then resume your normal positive interactions and remind “we are gentle” etc

  • My son was a bit like this. We would raise our hand and say stop. And move away from him. Don’t give any attention even negative.
