  • I think I bought my tomato plant early spring and harvested over the summer. They like a sunny spot.

  • I have some fruit on my tomato plants now but they haven’t turned red yet. I can’t wait.

  • It depends on the climate in the area you live in, your soil and they don’t like to be over watered. When we lived near the Adelaide Airport my Dad always planted ours the 3rd weekend in September. If we had enough warm weather we sometimes picked the first ones just in time for Christmas, other times it would be early January. It also depends on the type of tomato and they don’t like too much hot afternoon sun. They need ample air ventilation around them. Some types naturally take longer than others to ripen.

  • Mine gave fruit over the summer and I cut down the plant totally now in the autumn.

  • They actually take quite a while, but are well worth the wait, cos they’re so delicious!

  • We live in Ballarat, victoria and everyone here is complaining about their tomatoes not ripening this season. We planted our in October last year and we are just starting to get red fruit now
