Hello!

I can’t help my sweet-tooth cravings! I keep snacking poorly all the time, sometimes eating straight out of the jam jar!

I don’t even feel hungry, I just snack on sweet foods. Do you have any suggestions to help me with this, or healthy recipes that I can snack on throughout the day?

  • Sometimes if you get that feeling it’s because your body needs something, and it’s really only the first mouthful your taste buds crave. Maybe have the sweet things in a small portion and enjoy them as you crave it.

  • I would just stop buying junk food all together. Get rid of the sugar out of your cupboard and make sure to eat a nice and satisfying breakfast, lunch and dinner. For morning and afternoon tea you could make sure to have plenty of fresh fruits at home, which are sweet too. A lovely salad as snack is great too.

  • I agree with sugar being addictive. If you’re motivated to break the habit, I recommend I quit sugar – their program really helped me break my sugar addiction.

  • I think sugar is addictive ( esp when it is a chocolate bar like Milky way ) which you cant stop at one . I am becoming what I eat in between now, so I reach out on fresh fruits, dried fruits eg sultanas, raisin, banana chips, etc, assorted nuts preferably without salt . Maybe go to the health store or health isle of a supermarket to have a browse as once in a while I might get some carobs, vegie chips etc.

  • Puree a banana and mix with some yogurt and freeze in small containers for frozen yogurt snack

  • I just wanted to say, you are not alone. I’m right there with you! :)

  • A trail mix with healthy seeds n nuts etc,can be a good healthy snack for a sweet tooth.

  • Oh dear, I know exactly how you’re feeling, uncontrollable, ridiculously ridiculous cravings. I stopped buying the crap so it wasn’t so easily on hand. Sounds like you have a sugar addiction and need to cure it

  • Yeah nothing sweet! Just buy healthy snacks such as carrot sticks and apples ect

  • Don’t buy anything sweet!!! If it’s not in the pantry you can’t eat it! Then prepare some healthy snacks such as carrot sticks, celery, cut up apple, healthy dips and dry biscuits and have these at the ready so when you are craving something, you are not tempted into bad choices! This really does work!

  • sometimes i do this- like i have to go and buy a chocolate or something lol. Have treats, that’s fine but try not to eat just for the sake of eating lol. I find that when i am stressed or tired, i make chocolate choices lol

  • Are you eating enough? Don’t buy junk food. Do something where you can’t eat , like a shower, carrying things. Picture yourself eating and enjoying the food but not actually eating it. Get enough sleep.

  • I would try and change the habit by having a drink of water and going for a walk or doing something physical to distract yourself. Would also talk to your doctor just to check there is no underlying problems.

  • an initial intake of fructose-containing foods can lead to an enhanced desire to eat more.
That being said, fruit is a relatively safe fructose-containing food.

  • Have you heard of the book I quit sugar? Might do you good to stop sugar for a few weeks and re introduce slowly. The less you eat it the less you crave it :)
