Hello!

I found out I was 3 weeks pregnant as my son wasn’t breast feeding as usual, but that means I was taking the mini pill for three weeks whilst pregnant, could this hurt my unborn baby?

  • I got pregnant on the mini pill as well. I was 7 weeks before we realised I was pregnant. My boy seems fine. But I suggest if you haven’t already tried it, try the injection or the bar in your arm. Or there is an IUD. It’s a cervical implant that lasts up to 5 years with a 99.99% success rate in the US. It’s called Mirena IUD or PARAGuard IUD.
Talk to your doctor and your husband and find the right fit for you

  • I have fallen pregnant on the normal pill and the morning after pill. For some people the pill does not work as we found out 5 years apart lol. We love both of our boys and wouldn’t have it any other way now but if you want to remain not pregnant than I’d suggest to use protection as well.

  • You would be best of seeing your doctor. It is probably okay but it would be better to ask the experts.

  • I’ve read that it will not hurt the growing fetus and the mother. =) although talk to the doctors for more assurance.

  • Oh no, this wasn’t good to read :/ My daughter in law is just about to go on the mini pill, I hope pregnancy isn’t a common thing while taking this pill, she wouldn’t be impressed at all

  • I hope everything is going well. I would definitely check with your GP or OB.

  • The mini pill is only a small dosage, it should not disrupt anything too much good luck with the ultrasound

  • Im so glad you saw your GP, My fingers are crossed for your ultra sound…Hope it comes quickly..

  • It shouldn’t have an adverse affect but if you are worried please see your doctor or consider seeing an alternative therapist like a Naturopath to be involved in your pregnancy care. All the best with your pregnancy.

  • I’m glad you spoke to your doctor. I hope all is well.

  • UPDATE: I have spoken to my doctor and I was told I have a higher risk of an ectopic pregnancy due to the pill, so I have an early ultrasound booked in two weeks. Hopefully everything will be alright.

  • This is quite common. I would be asking your doctor ‘re risks

  • It happens quite a lot and three weeks isn’t that long so Your gorgeous growing baby will be fine

  • I think as long as you stop taking it as soon as you realise you’re pregnant then you’re fine.

  • I wouldnt worry as you were only on it for a short period of time before you worked out you were pregnant. But to set your mind fully at ease talk to your GP to get the fully facts..
