Hello!

I really hate driving about, especially in traffic, but recently I have found myself more and more disinclined to do it. That special trip into city traffic for the kids to do yet another activity just isn’t high up on the priority list. I’m wondering if this is just normal, after years of going the extra “50Km”, or whether it is something to do with ‘burn out’ (after a very stressful trip where car died on me with deep engine trouble)… or am I just getting a bit selfish in my old age!?

  • Long drives can be a waste of time. My husband drove for 7years 1hour to and from work, that’s 2 hour a day, 10 hours a week. it’s not strange that this becomes something what becomes frustrating. I think the best way to make this bearable is by making this pleasant as possible by taking a scenery route, listening to music, podcasts, phone calls (of course hands free)

  • I think your feelings are perfectly normal. Nothing pushes my buttons faster than inconsiderate drivers.

  • I don’t drive unless I absolutely have to. I prefer public transport.

  • Everyone has periods of being tired too and sometimes we just need to re-energise. :)

  • Sometimes there can indeed be ‘running around’ burn out. Making sure you get enough rest and ‘me time’ is important, it does help with not feeling worn out.

  • It can get tiresome. We do so much running around that we can get to the point where we just can’t be bothered. I feel like that at times. It can at times feel like a real chore to take the kids to extra curricular activities.
