Hello!

I’ve tried and failed in the past, and now my health is at risk. I’m thinking of trying a weight loss company like Jenny Craig or Weight Watchers, and would love to know what others have had success with.

  • Maybe take a health coach or Naturopath in the arm and do a gut health program.

  • If it’s a health risk I would be asking my dr about gastric bands. You don’t want to rely on these “quick fix” diets. They don’t fix long term just quick results that come back quite rapidly. You need to be mentally strong, eat clean/raw so no processed foods. Cook from scratch where possible make your own tomato sauce etc as sauces have loads of sugar. Download “my fitness pal” you can log your food intake and I find that it keeps me more on track calorie counting (it does it for you) think basic… Less intake(food) and more output(exercise) = weight loss! That app keeps you motivated as you enter your stats, how much you weigh, your goal weight and how much you would like to lose a week. It then calculates how many calories you can have a day to achieve weight loss. at the end of every day when you finalise your diary with your food and exercise it will say(for example), “if every day were like this you would weigh 76kg in 5 weeks” very motivating.

If you find yourself bored do some body weight exercise(push-ups, planks, sit-ups, squats, dips, lunges ) drink water and then if still hungry grab a healthy snack… Carrot sticks/almonds, rice cakes. Start with small goals, rid one thing at a time of you need to and realise it’s okay to have a treat every now and then but have a Freddie frog instead of a whole block of chocolate(like I do!!)

Good luck on your journey, do it for your kids and your family… They NEED their mumma!!!

    It’s not easy

  • I was thinking of doing lite n easy. also another one body trim, I had luck on that.
also try virtual gastric band hypnosis (easy loss on facebook)

  • Really for me having a pale op lifestyle really worked for me. I’m in more control of my weight now.

  • We used celebrity slim a few years back and that helped us to ‘shrink’ our stomach so to speak. Then continued by eating smaller portion sizes. Using a smaller plate helps heaps too.

  • make this become a new lifestyle, not just a temporary fix and work out even if you don’t feel like it

  • I think plans like that could be good to get you started, but you have to learn and change the way you cook and eat. it will take weight off but if you have not had to cook it and learn about calories etc then unfortunately it is very easy for the weight to go back on once you have finished with the program. But some people need a kick start and it could do that but you do need to learn what portion sizes are etc. quite a few pope I know have done 2:5 diet where you have 2 days a week of 500cals only. this helps you learn what exactly a 100 cal portion of food is. Good luck there is no easy way, but persistence is the key.

  • Michelle Bridges 12WBT is amazing. The food is amazing and you cook it yourself anyway, she just provides the recipes and meal plans. We did it and within 6 weeks, of not doing the exercise mind you, we lost 9 kilos each.

  • I always start with meals that are prepared to be the right sizing then I go on my own and just exercise as much as possible!

  • So I have done this a few times actually.. Oh my it’s a pain, but I found being very strict! But not how you would imagine.. I lost 20kgs within 1-2 months (NO exercise, no special formula, no nothing but me). All I did, no soft drink, sugary drinks, water only, (rare occasions are okay). But I also ate general food, whatever was going, but portion control, so if I had pasta or rice it would be very very minimal. plenty veges. If you do go get the burger, don’t add the chips. I know I personally want to lose exactly 20kgs again, although these things seem easier and much more expensive, in the long run, just go by these general things and I promise it helps. Why compromise taste? Just limit yourself, also remember 1 glass of water, 1 hour before will help you eat less and limit hunger.

  • I done it with Jenny Craig! I joined as I had struggled for years with PCOS and Endometriosis and thanks to all the treatments had piled on the weight! I joined in 2010 10 months before my 30th, and in that 10 months I lost 34kg! I fell pregnant with my daughter a few months later and stacked on 21kg so post bub I went back again and lost 16kg again to look good for my wedding! The food is beautiful, having a dedicated consultant is the best and it was quite easy to adapt to the menu plans and fit in a night out and easily pick something that was healthy enough that wouldn’t put me over my calorie intake! I’d certainly recommend it!

  • I have activly lost 27.5 kg and I am so close to my goal weight of 30kg Gone. I dont have a secret. My was a complete LIFESTYLE CHANGE. I had to change the way i thought of food and how it effected my weight. I used to go all day without eating the Id gorge out. I have my 3 meals still just make them smaller portions. I also have 3-4 snacks a day Apple, Cashew, boiled egg, Cruskets.. I east something every 2-3hrs. It will keep your metabolism at a peak performace which will help you burn that weight away. Increase Protien into your diet. Swap Sugar for NATURAL replacements Like Stevia. there is so many BETTER alternatives out there… Prepare what you will eat each day to stop unnessessary unhealthy eating. But also saying this… this is a lifestyle change not a diet. so if you want to indulge and have that Whopper every now and then.. Do it its good for the soul and it will also make u feel like you are not losing out in life. its all about moderation. Exerisice is important but depending on your fitness or if you have injuries (I have had knee surgry so limited to certain things) WALKING is an amazing excerise… or swimming… there is always something. I have a VERY active job. So I brought a viviofit and this really keeps me going. shows ur steps the km u have walked and how many calories u burn. I am a massive believer in GreenTea that you get from suppliment stores, for me they really help me burn calroies and give me amazing natural energy =) Good Luck!!! YOU CAN DO IT

  • I was told by a specialist to use the meal replacement drinks to kick start weight loss since I am unable to even walk very far after I fell off the roof (was a dumb idea cleaning the gutters) I gained a massive amount of weight after that accident since I spent months in bed & my knees need surgery. Inactivity & medications contributed to my weight rocketing to 135kgs so I am waiting for my house to sell & then I can afford to get a personal trainer who will be able to create an exercise plan that suits my injuries, arthritis & nerve pain. Currently I use a physiotherapist but it can get expensive. I have used weight watchers in the past but lost too much weight too quickly for it to be healthy, I was physically very active at the time & only wanted to lose about 20 kilos but it does not stay off if you lose 5kgs a week. I have tried the meal replacement drinks & for snacks I had carrots, snow peas, fresh beans etc. I lost weight gradually with no exercise at all so I can say it works but keep in mind you have to change your lifestyle & eating habits for it to stay off. One of the biggest things is support so a weight watchers or Jenny Craig setup will help you & encourage you to keep going. If you can’t afford a personal trainer, gym or places like Jenny Craig then contact your local neighbourhood centre & see if there is a group of ladies to exercise together. Having someone else doing it with you will not only encourage you but also the guilt factor kicks in if you cheat & you can all share your progress together. Keep a chart of what you eat & what exercise you do so you can monitor your progress, calorie counting is also useful. There are calorie booklets you can get which also give you information on how many calories you burn with the type of activity. Measurements are a better way to see how much you are losing because turning fat into muscle can actually make your weight increase, measure your waist, bust & thighs weekly to see if it is working for you.

  • I’ve tried almost everything over the years, but what worked and still works for me was counting calories. I used MyFitnessPal and lost about 20 kilos and keep it off as long as I don’t start stuffing my face with too much junk food. It’s actually really simple. I recommend it. Good luck!

  • I lost 20 kilos with weight watchers. I like that you slowly replace your bad habits with better healthier habits so its much easier to maintain your new weight, rather than just eat a diet that is chose for you.
