I struggle to keep motivated when it comes to exercises. Any ideas for a fitness challenge to try to keep interested? Aside from going to the gym what do other mums do to keep active and fit?

  • i also would like to know some ideas i really want to loose weight but just so hard to get started and to slick with it.

  • Bootcamp is also great. It’s different each time and it’s challenging and rewarding.

  • My gym sets challenges for us. December has been a triathlon challenge. 100 push ups 10km cycle 1km run. We are timed and try to improve each time we do it.

  • The Wiggle DVD is a great workout and we just got out little one a trike to keep us motivated to get out and about

  • try boot camps there lots of fun.

  • Get the pram out if you have a little one and push it. Push it fast and push it up hill. Find the nicest place in your area and go for a walk around it. I bet everyone has some great walks and scenic sights that they have never thought about seeing. Also if you have older children get the cricket bat out and have a game. We play nearly every night in summer with our eldest (yes we get tired of it) but it gets us moving. Also hire a tennis court for a bit of casual fun or do the wiggle dvd. That’s a great workout. Also watching rage is good with a vodka. Dance the night away.

  • I found just walking to and from the bus stop made a difference. I also started doing martial arts with my kids (I figured I was sitting through the class anyway – may as well join it). I’ve got a couple of DVDs that I love and the kids love doing them with me too. The most important thing is to find something you love. Buy a cricket bat and play backyard cricket with the kids, or one of those tennis poles (with the ball on the end of the string).

  • Recently I read of a woman who was too embarrassed to exercise in public, so she walked around the clothesline in her backyard. She lost over half her body weight . You just have to be motivated for yourself not others.

  • Gardening can be very challenging, digging and planting a new bed,..moving bricks or sleepers for edging. Raking, sweeping. Make a crazy path. Walk the dog up and down hills,strips weight off.

  • Go and buy a piece of clothing that you really like ,buy it in the next size down from what you are in now, that’s what I do ,it makes me want to lose the weight so I can fit into it . Good luck.

  • have a walking buddy, that way you can motivate each other
