Hello!

My daughter is 2 and I’m trying to think of something we can do as a Christmas present from her to her aunts and uncles and I’m incredibly stuck. They have their own children too but my daughter is the oldest so I feel like we’re setting the precedents here. What does everyone else give their siblings from your child, or do you only do those type of presents for the grandparents?

  • I agree with art work / something creative.

  • Something they can make is always nice. A drawing, some finger paints etc. Pinterest have some lovely ideas for hand and foot print pictures from the kids.

  • they can make cards or cookies. they make the wrapping paper.

  • I am in the “parent” age bracket in our extended family and gifts are not given between Aunts, Uncles, Nieces and Nephews. We don’t even give to siblings. We give freely to Grandparents, Grandchildren and maybe a “family” style gift of a fruit basket or similar when getting together for a family Christmas. As a grandparent I love to receive photos, calendars, etc. As a parent I used to love making cards and wrapping paper with child drawn squiggles and hand prints and would use them to wrap gifts. Christmas cards are a staple in our family for sending love at Christmas.

  • The card. Either make it together or stick a small piece of artwork on the front. For that age I got a couple of big pages and he painted with a couple of colours. The next time we got the same pages then painted with different colours. (Blue & green. Red & purple). Then we used gold and silver glitter glue. Cut them up and placed on the front of cards. The layers looked really effective and gave a few craft sessions.

  • A piece of their art work is always lovely to receive. Personal gifts are always the best.

  • Personally you only have so much space to display photo’s and the like before the home becomes cluttered.
Home made treats are delicious and little ones can help in the preparation, personal and heartfelt and nice to eat as well.

  • Personally, I never bothered. Us parents bought the presents and they were from everyone. I would suggest home made gifts though, you can’t beat them

  • As an Aunt of a 2 year old last Christmas I received a box of chocolates and a Best Aunty T-Shirt.
    I love it!
Best gift I have ever received & it means so much to me.

  • I would be asking the others what they want to do when their children are older. As a family we never gave out presents to the aunts/uncles just the children. The adults got presents from the family as one. If the aunt/uncle was a child then yes they got one. One of my son’s has a young daughter who will be 17 months Christmas time, she last year was included in her parents gifts to my other children.

  • Perhaps a beaded necklace for the aunts (using large beads and string elastic), and for the uncles maybe some cookies that your two year old can help decorate.

  • My daughter made a picture frame for all her aunts and uncles. Some had shells hot gun glued to the frame, others were made out of paddle pop sticks. Some had stickers and some were made from tree leaves, bark etc. She had stacks of fun making them

  • There are some cute little rock projects in the arts and craft section, these little rocks are small and make cute little presents.

  • Christmas in my famiky is about the children – aunts and uncles don’t get presents. You might want to start a precendence but maybe ask your family what they wantmto do – personally I hate the craft gifts frommmy niece. I can’t throw them out but I have no room for them

  • We used to purchase calico bags/ plain t-towels/pot mitts etc and some fabric pens (some kid friendly texta like ones exist and are relatively inexpensive – try a store like Spotlight) then let our young children decorate them as Christmas presents. These are fun and useful gifts – even if the drawings are on the rather abstract side!
