Hello!

I’d like to give my childrens’ teachers homemade gifts but would prefer ideas that aren’t food. What would you suggest? Thanks

  • Is there something the kids have in mind to make? Can they be involved in the decision making process?

  • You could make a Christmas tree decoration or decorate a plain photo frame.

  • I like to give a plant in a hand decorated garden pot.

  • Drawings that your child has done is always lovely!

  • Could make a card and maybe like a book filled with your kids pictures, and what they love about the teacher, and what the teacher has taught them to do

  • you could make a card and a bouquet. or add on with some candles in the mason jars made at home…

  • Hand lotions, gift vouchers, flowers, soaps.

  • Scented candles are always a great present. And you can get nice cheap ones at those “$2″ shops.

  • Maybe some Christmas decorations? Im not sure, never thought about making the teachers a present.

  • A decorated terracotta pot, depending on age your child could paint or mosaic tile or just a beautiful Christmas ribbon and you could include a packet of pedestmp maybe seedling. A case could be attached with something along the lines of just a little sometimg for you to help grow just like you have helped me so much this year.

  • A paper weight, a potted plant that maybe you have painted and planted yourself, a knitted benie or gloves.

  • I knit some cotton face washers in the teacher’s favourite color and then add some hand made soap I bought at a market. They seemed to go ok.
Although you don’t want food ideas I know some teachers like home baked cookies and giving them in a mug is a nice idea.

  • What about home made fridge magnets? Collect various items such as large buttons, a dice, and eraser…. And superglue a magnet on the back – or a small artwork or message from your child, glued onto a piece of craft board, seal with spray sealant or mod podge (decoupage glue) with a magnet in the back.

  • I am giving my sons teachers home made gifts in a way.
I am giving them a roll of wrapping paper with a roll of sticky tape each tied together with curling ribbon with a gift tag that reads ‘since November you’ve been shopping, barely sleeping, hardly stopping! Now it’s late you’re in a scrape, hope this gift wrap saves the date!

  • Home made Christmas decorations decorated by your children are a nice idea. We’ve decorated stars and baubles in the past (with glitter glue pens) and they’ve been well received.
