What are some healthy tips to improve the iron levels of my teenager? Thanks

  • Eat iron rich foods and almonds.


  • Lots of green leafy vegetables taken with vitamin C, like orange juice or Brussel sprouts. Iron fortified foods such as cereal.


  • Eat regular red meat and green leafy vegies such as spinach, cabbage etc and drink orange juice afterwards to as Vit C helps absorbs the iron . If you are concerned , you can always have a blood test with your doctor to see if he is iron deficient before you take any supplements .

  • Other than supplements, green leafy veg and lean red meat is the best legumes are also rich in iron. Unfortunately kids don’t always prefer those things…good luck!

  • buy the foods high in iron. and incorporate that more into diet, iron enriched cereals and bread, supplements


  • try red meat and green leafy vegies. iron tablets are good for extra iron, especially as teenagers when they need an extra boost.


  • Have iron foods or supplements with vitamin c as it helps the body absorb it….avoid calcium around rhe intake of iron because it counteracts absorbtion……foods such as spinach, greeny leafy veg, mushrooms, lean red meat, beans, are all great sources :)

  • Brocolli is an excellent source of iron! Iron tablets would be the easy option.
