Hello!

I’m no green thumb and my indoor plants keep dying. Can anyone recommended a hardy, indoor plant that thrives on neglect?

Does anyone have any Indoor plant recommendations?

  • Mother in laws tongue has been in my dimly lit living room for years and is still doing well. It’s a striking plant and only needs watering once a month. In fact it will not do well if you overwater it.

  • Ive heard ‘mother in law tongues’ are meant to be good.

  • I have the perfect plant for you right here! It was my daughters and so badly neglected. When she moved, it got left here. It now sits in the porch on a shelf, I literally water it once a week and it’s thriving. I recently transplanted it to a bigger pot and have just started fertilising it regularly. I have no idea what it’s called tho

  • I have a peace lily and in another pot I have mother-in-law’s tongue and both have been living indoors, despite my neglect, for years.

  • My advice is a yucca plant,l have had mine for many many years and it doesn’t require alot of watering,so good.

  • If you are after expert advice , maybe go to Bunnings or a flower shop where the consultants have some knowledge on plants . I know cactuses outlive every other types.

  • I only use fake plants inside.
My house always has children in it & fake plants can take a lot more than real plants can.
They look great, require no water, just don’t leave them in the sun or they will fade.

  • Get plastic ones. They’re really pretty, very life like, easy to take care of and guaranteed not to die

  • Peace lily; bamboo and money tree! All easy to grow. :)

  • Good question; good and helpful answers.

  • well i have a huge lucky bamboo in my kitchen. all it needs is water and if you put it on the window sill, it will get a little light. i have seen these sold in coles and they have pretty little pots for $10. i got mine from bunnings and put it in a champagne bottle and it looks great and too easy to care for

  • My Old boss about 15 years ago gave me a November Lilly and it is still going strong , water when the leaves droop and that is it..take off old leaves once in a while..best plant for indoors will not much TLC ..might need to out in bigger pot but is ok..definitely recommend this one .. Goodluck

  • My motto is: If you can’t make it, fake it!!
I am hopeless with plants, I stick to the fakes!

  • Try a butterfly orchid. They flower for months and look beautiful but only need good filtered light and watering once a fortnight with warm water. Feeding with orchid food once a month will help too. Once they finish flowering, they will reflower if you keep watering them every two weeks.
