Just thought to ask here. My partner and I watched this movie with our 1 year old daughter, we found it to be a little depressing and were in a toss up as whether to let Mr3, 4 & 6 watch it. Well, I gave in yesterday and let them watch it and they said it was a great movie and was good.
What are other people’s thoughts? Do you find it depressing, or a good kids movie?
At the same time on finding it depressing though, I think the movie is trying to say that it is ok to be sad and it is ok to express your feelings…

  • It sound’s interesting but have not yet seen it!

  • My 4 year old loves it. We’ve found it to be a very useful tool in teaching about different emotions and the important roles they have for how well feel during different situations. I think the film has a great concept for emotions going on to explain it to young children on their level. There may be sad parts in it but there’s a lot of sad things in life and young children often feel sad at a lot of things that mean a lot to them and in that, I think it’s a positive film to teach them that those feelings are okay.

  • We haven’t seen it yet. I’ve heard mixed reviews about it.

  • my kids liked it but yeah, they are still younger. it was a good movie.

  • Sounds like an interesting emotional movie.

  • My daughter loves it. I didn’t really like it and found it a bit sad and upsetting. I think the messages in the movie about all emotions are important would have gone over most of the kids heads.

  • That’s a good way to look at it =) Thanks!! I think my son was able to connect with it as he has a few problems expressing his emotions sometimes…
I think I will let them watch it again… The kids seemed to actually quite enjoy it. Still yet to watch it again myself though….

  • Love the movie. Our 8 year old says it was really interesting and very funny. I would have been happy for her to see it a younger age. We moved she was 3 and some of the issues raised in the movie were very real for her. More inspiring than depressing for us.

  • That’s mostly why I let them watch it so they could give me their views, well from mostly my eldest anyways… I wanted to see how he saw the movie at which he loved it, and he said it didn’t really find it sad, just lots of emotions. He said Joy is definitely his favourite though =)

  • Kids do see things differently and anything that helps kids understand their emotions is a winner for me.

  • I gave in as I think it may help my oldest child especially to know that it is ok to experience those emotions. Just found a lot of it to be quite depressing. Might watch it again and see if I have the same views… The kids really seemed to like it, so I may be just over-thinking it a bit…

  • I found it quite good. I watched with my daughter during the last school holidays and we both enjoyed it.

  • It does all that. It does get a little depressing, but it great for showing kids that it us ok to be mad and sad and angry. I enjoyed it, the kids loved it too
