Hello!

Hi everyone, just a short question should I let my nine year old daughter put permanent colour in her hair?

  • Henna is quite permanent and is natural and there should be other herbal organic and or chemical-free hair dyes. Personally I think 9yr is a bit young. We started with temporary hair dyes and dyed just strands of hair

  • Try our some food colouring!

  • I wouldn’t. I’d be fine with temporary color, but permanent doesn’t sound right for a nine year old.

  • Nope, not permanent, not at age nine. Hair chalk or rinses, maybe. It’s too young to be messing around with her hair health

  • I think not, all kids are so naturally beautiful, let them be kids as long as they can. We are grown up and dying hair for way too many years

  • I wouldn’t let her yet, she’ll do it when she’s a teenager lol

  • Well, technically, it isn’t permanent. It will eventually grow out. So if you can deal with that, why not?

  • There are so many chemicals in hair colour that i don’t even think they are safe for adults.

  • No way I would have let my daughter at 9 have a permanent hair colour. I think she to young. Children grow up to quick as it is.

  • I started at 16 – now have to put highlights in every 6 weeks! I will deter my daughters from ever colouring their hair, it’s annoying and pricey

  • I would suggest waiting until she is older; 13 or 14. Then play around with temporary and semi permanent colours. A lot can change in months and years and removing permanent hair colour is costly and time consuming. Children do like to play with hair colour; but maybe she can make do with some colourful hair sprays for the moment! Good Luck!

  • I wouldn’t do a permanent colour at a young age. Perhaps a wash out one. The other thing I am questioning is why does a 9 year old want to dye their hair? Is it peer pressure, trying to be older? They have so many years to be grown ups. I’d be encouraging her to just be her.

  • Maybe not at 9 years old.

  • I think it’s quite young to want to start dyeing her hair. But if you are all for it then I would get a non-toxic herbal type of dye, usually available in most health shops.

  • I would not it cost to much to up keep to be starting so young, maybe if she is looking for a change take her to a salon for a restyle?
