Hello!

“Just wondering if anyone has a Thermomix and what do they think of it? Any regrets? Does it save you time? I have just been to a demo and it looks like a great time saver and less dirty dishes but I can’t really afford one. I’d wish you could try before you buy to see if you use it as much as you think you would. If I save I might be able to get one in a few years. So is it worth saving for? Would love to hear peoples thoughts on this.”

I got gifted a thermomix by my mum as she thought it would make my life a whole lot easier.
In all honesty it’s very expensive to cook with as most of the recipes are from scratch so you’re buying a heap of ingredients.
Also, if you have a big family, the portion sizes won’t be great for you. My hubby is a big eater so for us it only makes three meals – lucky my kids don’t eat proper meals yet!
Also, I found that a lot of the recipes a bit all over the place. Like some will use all of the accessories to cook a whole meal and some you still have to cook yourself say in the oven or pasta on the stove etc. This confused me as some recipes cook the pasta in the thermomix.
Also some recipes require you to wash the bowl a couple of times in order to complete the meal so you’d benefit more with two bowls which is again another expense…

  • I’ve heard a few bad things about the Thermomix, they have a tendency to explode. But I think the manufacturers were working on improving that

  • I always wanted one but not after all the incidents!

  • I’ve noticed some people selling their thermies after upgrading. Maybe keep an eye out for those sales posts. Target also had a similar version without the price tag. Think it was around $300 – you could always look at that option if you’re not able to part with the big bucks for an official one. If you have a friend who has one, see if they will let you borrow it for the week to see if you would actually use it and if you like it.

  • Yes! Really interesting reading the comments on this!

  • Definitely worth the money. We have had ours for over 2 years now and couldn’t imagine being without it !!

  • everyone seem to have one these days and they all rave about it. haven’t been to a demo and have no money for it either

  • If you are looking to save money on your weekly food bill I would definitely recommend one. They are absolutely great and you can whip up snacks in a matter of minutes. Custard takes 7 minutes for example. The food is amazing, it cooks to perfection and really is simple to use. I guess its just hard getting the $2K together to purchase one!

  • yeah i was wondering the same thing. you can do so much in them though

  • Looks like I might have to buy that Target copy Thermomix :-)

  • I don’t know but I’d like to win one and find out lol!!

  • there are cheaper brands that probably work just as good.

  • No idea but I hope other mums can give you the answers you need.

  • A friend of mine felt the same way as you, she bought the Belini copy from target, about $400 and loves it

  • I haven’t got one and after gong too a demo I decided it was definitely not for us. Having said that some of my friends adore theirs. Go to a demo and taste samples to help you decide.
