Hello!

I never used to react to these things. But after having a baby I can’t seem to use anything with chemicals in it without getting a bad migraine. After whitening my teeth, putting a face mask on, using a stain remover before I put a load of washing on I get a migraine. It’s such an inconvenience and so painful. Does this happen to anyone else, how do you cope?

  • I didn’t particularly notice anything new after having a baby. But lately I am noticing my eyes water a lot with the application of some moisturiseres

  • Yes, mainly preservatives

  • I suddenly became sensitive to sun screen and had to look for a brand that I didn’t react to.

  • I would check with a doctor and if its serious they will refer you to a skin specialist. Maybe after the birth it triggered a sensitive hormone .

  • I developed sensitivities to certain things tol – not sure if it’s age or something post pregnancy did to me – I had a reaction to an organic plant based cleaner and bandaids and tapes now give me rashes… weird! Apparently there’s a list of things that set off migraines – I heard oranges and vitamin c is one of them

  • I have noticed I am more sensitive to fragrance than before.

  • I am the same – I have spoken with my doctor and it is usually related to nasal conditions. Maybe when you next see them have a chat. Other than that I’ve turned to making my own cleaning products and similar at homes. I’ve found certain brands I can buy and stick to them religiously. Earth Choice products are good and don’t seem to set off my allergies or headaches – maybe you could give them a go. Otherwise just trial and error to find brands that don’t make you unwell. Good luck.

  • Yes during pregnancy and even years later i’ve become super sensitive to smell, even had to get my hubby to change his Dove lemon soap because the scent was too strong for me i couldn’t sleep. Cutting out as many chemicals as we can in our lives is a good thing, We all need to be doing more of this.

  • I seem to be getting more sensitive as I get older. Can’t stand the smell of Jif and some other cleaning products, only use sensitive washing powders and can’t use fancy soaps. Also find I have to walk out of shops with incense burning as it gives me a headache.

  • My hubby is super sensitive and it has gotten worse over the past 8 years – he can no longer use deodorant or eat anything processed……he can’t use sunscreen, after shave….the list goes on – they have found he is allergic to sacilliates and amines Goiod luck

  • After having Babies our hormones are going crazy. Talk to your doctor and sort out why you really are getting these migraines. If you changed your washing powder/liquid and have a low allergy and chemical free one (they are many these days big chemist have the all as so your local supermarket). Your makeup usually changes as we get older anyway so just go with less is more. Try using lemon juice and white vinegar as your stain remover. Put these ingredients in a spray bottle. 3 parts white vinegar, 1 teaspoon of washing up liquid 2 parts water. Use this on every thing. I do I have the whitest sheets and towels.

  • Also; look at hair products as they can be full of chemicals; maybe switch to chemical free alternatives.

  • I would look for a chemical free or environmentally free detergent and gradually switch most things in your house. The less chemicals you use the better if they are causing migraines. Also a lot gentler on your skin as well :)

  • Yes, but not with migranes – I have a reaction to chemicals that rips my skin off.
I have removed most chemicals from our lives & the rest I am very careful with. There are a lot of very good, natural products around now so it’s just trial & error until you find ones that work for you.

  • Maybe switch to chemical free options?
