Unfortunately yes I think it is. My two middle kids especially are the best of friends…… when they aren’t the worst of enemies lol but if I try and separate them, they are back together in minutes anyway… It’s very frustrating haha
It is in my house and it does my head in. They can be best of friends one minute and then bickering, annoying or hurting each other the next EVERY SINGLE DAY!!!! Mine are girl 9 and boy 6
I’d say yes but at that age they should be able to start sorting out problems / feelings in a more mature way, and if they are not then give them help with how to. Conflict and difference of opinion is totally normal and healthy, but putting down / abuse / blaming / being mean etc. is a bad pattern to allow to set in, and doesn’t help resolve differences. If the fighting is about identifying and managing feelings (eg one sibling jealous of other) then they need help with sorting out and managing emotions maybe.
I have a 12 year old and a 9 year old who are friends one minute and then seem to hate each other. I’m not sure if it’s their closeness in age? Me and my sister were 7 years apart and we fought too. I think it’s just part of growing up to have sibling rivalry. Me and my sister are really close now, I never thought we would be.
I say very natural for them to fight with each other. I have a 15 and nearly 12 yr old. They fight (well argue mostly) but would have each other’s back in a heartbeat
People all have different personalities and as kids they have many things going on, and learning to get along, or deal with conflict are one of those things that are always going to happen. I remember playing with my brother when I was young, but I also arguing with him too….I think its all in the scheme of things on how you learn.
Gawd, I hope not! I’ve got 3 years between mine and they are driving me spare. If they’re not niggling at each other, they make everything into a competition. Anyone have strategies to stop them??!!!!!!!
Yes, I think it is! I do feel your pain though…My 7 & 4 year olds do and me and my sister did right up until 18 & 16 years old… even after this we still had the odd squabble. It only stopped for us when she moved out.
