It probably depends on your circumstance. I’ve found the only “insurance” that we have used has been motor cover for breakdowns (can cover things like hire car, towing and accommodation depending on your level of cover) but that was on a roadtrip. But in general I would say ‘no'; insurance for domestic trips is not for us.But if there is something specific of concern for you it might be worth looking into what policies offer – often they cover things like cancellations, loss of property and specific risks for “dangerous activities” like handgliding or skiing where you could cause damage to someone/something else, or yourself, and have a big bill. If you are just worried about having to cancel you might be entitled to some refund even without insurance.
