  • Definitely keep breastfeeding – you will pass some of your antibodies on to bubs. Just try to keep up good hygiene etc.

  • If you have a cold or flu, fever, diarrhoea and vomiting, or mastitis, keep breastfeeding as normal. Your baby won’t catch the illness through your breast milk – in fact, it will contain antibodies to reduce her risk of getting the same bug. Not only is it safe, breastfeeding while sick is a good idea indeed, so keep going !!

  • It is always better to breastfeed, baby will build up more immunity. Just look after yourself eat lots of fruit and fresh raw salads.

  • Keep on boobin’.
Breastmilk is the best thing for your baby as it will have antibodies to try and help your baby not get sick. If you switch to formula you will have supply issues and once over the flu may not be able to feed again.
If you are concerned speak to a lactation consultant or call the ABA hotline (it’s free).
Best of luck. Get better soon.
