Hello!

Hi, hoping some MoMs can help. My 17 month old daughter has started to have screaming episodes at night time. They are occurring anywhere from half hour after falling asleep to just after midnight and multiple times during this time, she screams uncontrollably like she is in serious pain but we can’t hold her or calm her at all it just makes her worse. The only calming tool we have is a bottle and this only works after about 15  minutes of screaming. Doctors believe it is probably night terrors. But I feel useless. Does anybody else have any advice or suggestions for dealing with our baby girl. We hate seeing her like this. Nothing has changed in her routine or in the environment she sleeps in.

  • Maybe a night light and musical lullaby toy might help

  • What did you end up doing?

  • There is some good advice below – hope some of it has helped.

  • It does sound like night terrors, hopefully they will grow out of it soon.

  • You could get the opinion of another doctor, just in case it is something other than night terrors

  • I hope you were able to resolve the problem with all the useful advice

  • I hope things improve for you. Rach has some helpful info there. None of my children suffer night terrors so can’t really help in that aspect. My daughter does have some night mares that sounds pretty scary n I just make sure she knows I’m there

  • My daughter had the same thing. They seem to grow out of it you just have to watch they don’t hurt themself
