Hello!

My Mum lives alone (Dad passed 20 years ago) is fiercely independent, has started repeating herself, often saying the one thing many times, forgetting things she has been told and seems to get angry when I pick her up on it or dismissive. I am starting to be very frustrated by it can any one offer me some advice?

  • You need to see a medical professional for proper advice. Hope all is okay

  • i hope this worked out for you. i haven’t had to deal with this. talk to a doc for advice and talk to your mum.

  • It could just be an age thing? I think signs of dementia aren’t just forgetting things or repeating things. It’s more like holding the car keys and not knowing what they are or what they are for. Maybe a Dr visit would put your mind at ease

  • Maybe take her for a check up,my gran is 89 today, last year she got dementia, she just forgot to drink became dehydrated lost so much weight, ended up in hospital & then in a home.I went & saw her it was terrible, was there for 4 days, she didn’t remember seeing us,she was imagining all this terrible stuff happened to the family. They done tests,we thought this was it,June 14,You wouldn’t believe it,they put her on some pills ,my grand back. You wouldn’t want to see your mum as bad as my gran, get her checked now, good luck!❤️

  • frustration is common for carers and those that care. the best advice I could offer is to contact the dementia organisation in your state either by phone or in person. to find the closest organisation to you go online. I have also been in need of information and help and contacting the dementia organisation was invaluable.

  • Your mum is proably getting frustrated as she knows she forgets things. I wouldn’t assume dementia, I s suggest taking her to the doctor
