Hello!

I know that I have always tried my best as a mum but looking back I should listened to my own intuition and have kept my child back a year in pre-school but I listened to everyone else. Is there anything you would have done differently too or would like too?

  • Not take advice off strangers from the internet :p

  • I promised myself i would never move from place to place like my parents did I was never in one school for more then 6 months .
So I fulfilled that promise and kept them in the one school and I am glad I did they made many friends and enjoyed there schooling .
I would not change anything as I think we do the best we can.
I think we would go crazy if we think about oh if only I did this or that ,things might be different.
It is what it is . ????

  • Yes, yes and yes. My kids are now in their forties. I would have spent more time joining in their play when they were young, instead of doing so many chores and working too much. I would have made sure we did more family things together and encouraged more sporting activities. I would have given them an allowance to teach them money management… I could go on and on…..We just try our best at the time….Life gets in the way.

  • When I decided to send my son to school instead of holding him back I promised myself I would not second guess my decision – once the decision was made it was made. It’s not worth wondering what if, the decision is made. Don’t be hard on yourself.

  • I agree with you becstalou – we do our best and being kind is the best gift we give to ourselves.

  • I would have tried to be more patient, especially when they were so little. I was always so focussed on making sure everything was done that I would get snippy with them while I was in the middle of something. I always feel guilty :(

  • I strongly believe you do your best with the best intentions and then you be kind to yourself because you did your best.

  • I would have had a kid earlier and had another one.

  • There is never a redo and regret is pointless.
Being a mum and parent is an ongoing journey.

  • Don’t stress so much, spend more time being relaxed with my son, and kept myself healthier so I was feeling better as I do now after changes to my diet etc.

  • Got physio for my first childs flathead. I kept getting told it would grow out but it never did. Lucky she has long hair I guess.

  • Slow down and not be rushing everywhere as too often I was going here and there and trying to get things organised for the kids, thinking it was what they were wanting and needing, but in actual fact they wanted to be heard and actively listened to and had time spent with them where I wasn’t thinking about what I had to do next. Hold your children’s hands more when walking along too, as it is not long before they don’t want to do that anymore which is certainly saddening
