My son, (who is 11 months) since I can remember always had a solidish bowel movement between 7-9 am and then more later, But a few days ago his poo changed completely from what I call normal to yellowy liquid farts. Sometimes green. Always somewhat runny. He has never had nappy rash and now he is so raw down there it’s such a struggle to change him. The doctor said it would pass but it has been about a week now. Has anyone else experienced such a drastic poo change for this length of time?

  • What you described sounds like diahoerra, maybe go back to the dr for another opinion. Changes in poo can be related to teething, increase in saliva and acidy poo can cause the nappy rash

  • My son had normal bowels then had his shots. It took 3 months for his bowels to normalise then they were the same again

  • To be honest yes, my son goes through bouts of this from time to time (he is now 15 months old) and usually passes within a week or two. I just give him bananas for his morning tea as it helps make it more solid. If after a second week it hasn’t cleared up take him back to the Dr. Also my son has had bad nappy rash since day 1, if you find it is so red raw he is in pain either try Canesten (an anti fungal cream for vaginal rash or jock itch, my Dr recommended it as nappy rash creams were doing nothing) or alternatively something weird that I found works every single time is sea water. Take him to the beach (I know at the moment it is cold) and let him soak in the sea water for at least 20 mins, you will notice the next day the redness is gone, however this only keeps the rash away for about a week before the rash returns.
