Hello!

I’m traveling overseas in November and plan to volunteer to work in a local hospital while there I’m not nervous yet I have some questions re whether I like it or maybe I might fall in love with it.

  • It depends in part on your skills, I think – if you’re not able to feel that you’re genuinely making a difference, it could be quite shattering.

  • Good on you for looking to do some volunteer work!

  • It depends which country and what your duties will be. Be very careful and read the fine print before you start. Laws are VERY different in other countries.

  • I guess you can only have a go and find out.

  • Which countries do you plan to travel to ?

  • Sounds like it will be interesting for you, a definite special life moment. One to tick off your bucket list

  • You might even be able to chat with someone that haas done this too and get their tips.

  • Each country should have a job board / vacancy bank with available volunteer functions, for which you can show interest by applying.

  • Volunteering organisations should be able to provide you with information and also link you with people in a similar situation.

  • How exciting ! What is your age and where are you traveling ? It will depend on the oversees countries you’re planning to visit.
It might be good to contact hospitals in the countries you’re traveling already and see if they can offer you an internship place or volunteer work and ask about the types of support they have for such placements.
