Kaboodle, Kinsman or other flat pack kitchens?

Kaboodle, Kinsman, Freedom, IKEA or smaller brand kitchens?

Hello! Our kitchen is so old and disgusting and we’d love to put in a new one. We don’t have a huge budget so thought perhaps now that we have to stay home all the time, we could spend the time putting in a new one.

Has anyone used a kitchen company like Kaboodle, Kinsman or other flat pack kitchens? What would you recommend?

Are they much cheaper? And are they hard to do yourself? Thanks … we’re a bit out of our depth and need advice.

We put in an IKEA kitchen three years ago and we love it. Very customizable.

Kaboodle increases dramatically with cost and is overrated for a Bunnings kitchen. I have used Freedom twice and found them very helpful with doing the best design for the space. They aren’t any different with their sales tactics than any other cabinet maker wanting a sale. I’ve just used Kinsman xpress (flatpack) range for a kitchen in a factory. It was only a bit dearer than my Kaboodle estimate. With this pandemic, the ETA has skyrocketed. Kinsman are handy if you need appliances as they are associated with The Good Guys. Otherwise I probably prefer Freedom kitchens over Kinsman. I believe the same manufacturer makes both as the payments go to “Freedom kitchens” – which I found a bit unusual. Hopes this helps.

I have an Ikea kitchen. I love it! I designed everything myself online using their tool. Easy once you have the meausrements and have visited the showroom to know exactly whtat the products look/feel like. I paid an installer to install it. 4 days to install and still looking beautiful 4 years later.

Flat pack kitchens from bunnings and ikea seem cheap at first but prices rise quickly with fittings and finishes (especially on kaboodle). my advice save your money and get it done by a cabinetmaker/builder. you use your kitchen every day you want it done right

It is not easy to instal your own kitchen. There’s so many things to consider that you just don’t realise half of them. Make sure you have excess money after buying your new kitchen, to be prepared for any mistakes

Firstly measure your kitchen area that you want to replace. None of flat pack furniture including kitchens are cheap. Some companies will install them for you. I have no idea what the cost is. If you draw a sketch of what you currently have with measurements (or at least approx.) they may be able to give you different layout ideas that may be more practical. Just in case you do change the layout make sure you measure your fridge too. I know somebody who forgot to measure their fridge, didn’t want to down size it and had to redesign the cupboards….after they were built….an expensive mistake
