Hello!

I have 2 corner cabinets with 3 shelves each in my kitchen. I have been trying to organise all my cooking pots and baking equipment as best as I can. However, when something falls at the “back” it simply disappears until, I get everything out! The shelves are 60 cm long by 15 cm height (“L” shaped). I can’t get the standard baskets from Bunnings, etc to fit. Help please?

  • I have some of those I don’t think they’re very handy. I stock things in there I don’t need often like vases and spare boxes of glasses

  • too funny!! I had the same issue, and it became the plastics cupboard – lunchboxes, water bottles, all the other stuff

  • I would put things in the corner cupboards that I don’t use much. I’m guessing it’s hard to get things in and out of the corner cupboards. Not sure there’s much else to do with them

  • I’ve tried everything and mine are a hopeless mess, I’m thinking maybe they have too much stuff in them. I’ll read the answer here and hope I get some good advice myself.

  • I also put things in the back that I rarely use. Fortunately they are large things that fit together fairly well so things very rarely ever fall completely out of sight. I actually store spare bottled water at the back of one of mine at floor level. I know at one stage my Mum had a pretty blue icecream container that she put some small things in to stop them falling and rolling around.

  • This sounds like a bit of a problem for you! Try putting the larger things at the back and the smaller things in front is one idea. Perhaps a lazy susan could be put in and replace some of the shelving inside the cabinets. They are quite good in the corners and nothing gets lost . I don’t have one but my mother in law had one and I could remember thinking to myself that I would like one of those one of these days!

  • I use mine for storing big platters and Party items. I also have a lazy susan in the smaller section with stuff I use often near my stove like herbs and spices. I gave away I never used.

  • I’ve cleaned and resorted by corner cupboard so many times that is drives me crazy. I put only my plastic containers in it but it’s still a complete mess. Meany me now get the kids to get containers out and if anything falls out ( which it will ) they have to clean it up

  • I store a combination of regular and rarely used items in mine as it is deep. I have my big mixes on an oven tray so it just slides in and out of the cupboard freely. I also have drink bottles and travel cups in here but in a plastic any so they are less likely to fall over and get lost at the back.

  • I store all of my plates, bowls and glasses on the top shelf of mine. On the bottom I have my flat baking trays and my frying pans and saucepans. I use it every day.

  • I tend to store my plastic ware in the corner cupboards.

  • I love my corner cupboard. I use it/open it several times a day. I store items in the corners that I don’t use (second cutlery set, platters etc) that often and the items we use frequently at the front (toaster, blender, mix master). I also have stacked all my baking items in conditioners on top of each other (cookie cutters, muffin cases, piping nozzles etc) along one section.

  • have you looked at the basic wired shelves that essentially raise things up on 2 levels? Maybe start using the cupbord for another purpose. Our corner cupboard is used for our plastic stuff

  • I hate my corner cabinets. I can never find anything in them and never use stuff at the back.

  • Always a challenge – I generally store items I rarely use. I like the idea of containers on castors.
