Hello!

I use Layby to plan and budget for Christmas presents and I love it! Do other mums use layby to plan and buy presents for Christmas?

  • I’ve never used laybuy for Christmas presents. Kids change their minds a lot with what they want. I also didn’t like the idea of lining up to put the laybuy on, making payments and again when collecting it. I have used laybuy in the past for other things and that was enough when it wasn’t busy.

  • I used to do chrisco and hamperking and castle but have switched to paying off giftcards to purchase my gifts when they are on sale you get more bang for your buck.

  • Yes, I’ve done it once. A present I bought during the Christmas Toy Sale that I paid off for a late Nov. birthday. I had nowhere to hide it from an “exploring” age child who had just worked out how to push a chair over to places so he could reach higher, including while supposed to be in bed asleep at night. Kids !!! have to love them though!!

  • yeah layby is great, the kids don’t have a chance to peek, i don’t have to stress and it is all manageable!

  • I agree – layby is a great way to purchase and pay for gifts.

  • I have lay-by on Mum’s Christmas present 6 weeks ago and then it’s done! Pick up in 2 weeks!

  • Lay by is an awesome way to shop! Especially for kids for Xmas and birthday presents. Target have a lay by system for Xmas that starts in the middle of the year, lots of time to pay it off. As long as your kids aren’t like mine and change their mind for what they want after I’ve lay byed :/

  • I agree with using layby mom165081 for storing big items away from prying eyes! ;)

  • Not usually, only for very large items that I don’t want at home until just before Christmas.

  • I use layby at Christmas and throughout the year as this helps with budgeting and not overspending.
