Hello!

I had my mirena removed 5/6 weeks ago and I don’t have my period yet. We are using another form of protection, but I just wanted whether it was normal, and how long other mums waited for their periods to come back?

  • Unfortunately everyone is different but the dr usually says it can take 6-12months for periods to become more “normal” though that depends on your hormones. Best to go to the drs and ask

  • For me it was the following month – my friend fell pregnant the same mth she had hers removed

  • Everyone’s different, I was 6 weeks, but have heard of less time and also more time. Have a chat with your Dr, or even a chemist, they should be able to ease your concerns

  • It varies with every woman. Generally they say around 1 month but I know women that have started af a few days after having it removed and some as last as 2 years later. Breastfeeding plays a big part in it also.

  • Interesting to note different times for most

  • Wow – such a range of different times!

  • Amazing the difference in answers, a little worrying if you want to fall pregnant.

  • everyones body is different, i didnt bleed for 3 years.

  • It’s very individual, I went nearly seven years without a period after a depo shot, all was normal but it took my doctor to convince me! Go and find an understanding GP and have a chat!
