You can buy cord brackets that you can install onto the window sill yourself from Bunnings. They are easy to install. For more information, visit Kids Safe website which gives you all of the information that you need to know.
I have bought a packet with a little gadget that will hide the cord inside. You can still use the cord for moving the blinds/ curtains. I think it’s a Dream Baby product.
You can buy products from dreambaby that can fix these blind cords to the wall to a tensioning device. Yes blind cords can be a huge safety hazard in the home!
I tie it up so that it is right up the top and only adults can reach. Some of my blind cords have like a weight on them and I wrap the cord around it and put it on top on the blind rail.
Bunnings and major hardware stores sell plastic clips, these are screwed onto the window frames with the cord tightly bound so they aren’t flapping around
There are special hooks you can buy to keep the cord safe for children. I don’t think they are expensive. I think I saw them in Big W beside the cupboard locks.
We had the same issues in our house with our roller blind cords, we found on a safety site you could get some sent out to you for free as a part of a saftey program. We ordered a packet and did the whole house i think we got 6 in a pack it was easy to do and put the loops though them and attach them to the walls. Google it and see if its still avalible.
Hooks are your best bet – just attach them high up and wind the cord around. There are specially designed products you can buy but would probably cost more. Consumer Affairs Victoria used to send out a free Safety Kit – not sure if the offer is still good though – search their website for Curtain and Blind Cord Safety.
