Hello!

My hair falls just past my shoulders and lately everytime I wash it, I’ve noticed lots of strands coming out. Not clumps but enough to cover the drain. Has anyone else experienced this?

  • If you are pregnant or breastfeeding it wont stop until you stop breastfeeding

  • Yes post pregnancy I lost handfuls of hair, not clumps but enough to fill your hand! Stress and poor diet also impact on hairloss

  • Also; possibly change hair products too.

  • I suggest a visit to a GP as there can be many reasons for hair loss.

  • There are so many different reasons for hair loss or apparent hair loss, you are best talking to your dr to alleviate any concerns. Good luck

  • Yes, I have long hair and for me it was a hormonal thing, it has stopped now, I’d go and see a doctor.

  • nerves can do this to a woman and so can medication, talk to your dr

  • Hormones and stress can do awful things to our bodies and minds. Unless you notice bald patches forming on your scalp, or enormous chunks of hair coming out, I wouldn’t be overly concerned. Having said this, I know it’s easier said than done, especially if you’ve always been proud of your hair. Invest in a good shampoo and conditioner, as well as a leave in conditioner, and even a treatment serum, and you should notice a positive difference in a few weeks. Good luck!

  • I have been experiencing the same problem, so I am very glad you asked this question, and reading the answers from other moms has helped me. Thanks.

  • This happened when my lo was about 3 months.. I have spoken to other mums and they experienced it too.. However, it does stop after a while!

  • I have had that problem since having kids. I can get a good chunk out every time is run my hands through my hair. I asked my doctor about it and she said its normal for long hair and as long as I am not seeing bald patches it’s ok

  • I would talk to your dr , hair loss in women can be bought on by stress and medication

  • there are some good comments here

  • This only happened to me when I was breast feeding

  • I have thick coarse hair and have lots loads every time I wash it, drain is full. No bald patches though so it seems to regenerate. It is far worse about 12 weeks after having a baby. That’s when your hormones start to get back to normal so after losing less during pregnancy, it starts to really shed after birth. You may notice a receding hairline even but new growth will take it’s place and you’ll be a fuzzy head for a while!
