Hi, We have a lil boy who is literally ALWAYS in the same room, I think he has a minor form of Aspergers so he worries about everything which means he wont play or even sleep on his own. I obviously love havin him around but that doesnt give much time for making love, was wondering if anyone had any tips on the best way to get our sex life back, we both miss it as before I fell pregnant we both had very high sex drives.

  • Sneak it in where ever, any time. In the car. The shower, the backyard. Whenever your little boy is occupied, go for it, grab your chances

  • How old is he? You could always try it while he’s sleeping, just be very quiet so he doesn’t wake up

  • Could you maybe fit some in when he’s asleep? Obviously quietly because he would be nearby. Maybe organise sleepovers for him? I’m really not sure as I don’t know how he will react to certain things

  • A friend uses the shower!

  • Their are some interesting comments! But getting creative is my advice!

  • have you tried making love in another room maybe the lounge on a couch or something?

  • yeah get a babysitter. lol good luck! get creative….

  • Our daughter sleeps in her own room but come 7pm when she is in bed we are both exhausted :( she wakes us up in the morning (crying usually) so that rules that out. Parenthood and sex is about opportunity and timing now, utilise whatever you can! Daytime nap, or if he’s alseep in your room – go to another room!

  • Might just have to lock your door one night, get your boy asleep in his own bed and go enjoy some time together
Or even get someone to take him for a few hours and enjoy the quiet

  • Has your son been diagnosed? Can grandparents or other relatives give you a break at all?.
You don’t have to tell them why you want a break!!! Regardless he needs to spend time away from you in case it has to happen in an emergency. Maybe you should put him in his own room and persist with it. Start on a Friday night or whichever one is suitable that neither of you don’t have to go to work the next day. Does he have something he cuddles at night? If not, maybe introduce something.

  • Good advice from NAOMI! Think of different options.

  • my son is an aspy, he sleeps in his own room, and sleeps deeply once he falls asleep, if you have a walk in robe, how about putting his bed in there, and once he is asleep, shut the door, and go hard!!!

  • Even if he falls asleep with you in the room can you leave after he is asleep? Maybe try start the night with him asleep, aim for an earlier bed time and utilise early evening (even before cleaning up from dinner if needed!) Does he still have a daytime nap you can utilise on weekends? And if he only sleeps in your room sneak out into the lounge room while he’s asleep? The bedroom doesn’t have to be the only place for lovemaking! Good luck! I bet your partner appreciates you making the effort:)

  • Maybe you need to organise a date night and get someone who he likes to watch him overnight? Does he have a special relationship with grandma or pop?

  • Try and get him out fo your room.
Does he get along with grandparents or aunties and uncles, maybe they could babysit?
