Hello!

How to manage travelling with 2 babies in a 2 door car? – We only have 1 car which is a 2 door Hyundai getz. We have a 2 yr old and am due in 4 weeks with our second baby. My partner has just lost his job and now I’m doubting we will afford to get a new car before baby arrives. I’m worrying how much of a struggle it will be to get bubs in and out of the back of the car especially in a rear facing carseat. Not to mention I can’t fit a stroller in the boot let alone the strider plus bassinet I’ve bought for bubs. So my question is has anyone used a 2 door car and found it ‘okay’ with a newborn? Any tips on how to manage? (Getting in and out the car etc) thanks.

  • It can be done! I’m sure the two year old wont be much of an issue. A new born will be a bit of a struggle for a little bit, but you’ll get the hang of it

  • My mum had a 5 year old, an 18 month old and a newborn in a 2 door ford escort and managed. But that was the 80s where 5 year olds sat in the front and childseats were sort of optional.

  • I should imagine it can be done, but with a bit of a struggle. How did you go? Have you got a new car yet?

  • there are some good comments here

  • how did it all work out?

  • Go to a baby seat fitting station and ask about the rules. I had three babies all set in baby seats facing the front. The baby seat had a tilt and lock with three positions as the baby got older we moved the tilt. They were safe and strapped in well. I went shopping at night when my husband was at home with the kids and took pleasure shopping for groceries and having a coffee on my own. On other occasions my husband did all the shopping taking this boring task away from me and pulling his weight in household duties. The pram was a small lightweight one. I see that shop like Coles and Woolworths have twin shopping trolley’s you could use if you must shop with the children.

  • Hope all is going well with you new little one.

  • JELLYKRYSTALS advice was good, hope your suitation is now better, upgrade to a 4 door car when your finances are better, good luck.

  • would love to know how you went :)

  • I hope you find a great solution and things go your way :)

  • How are you managing with your car?

  • sounds like some good advice from JELLYKRYSTALS

  • how is it going with the car

  • How is it all going with the car?

  • Practice now and then you will have a strategy ready. I now have two strollers because the strider is quite large to try to fit in a lt of cars
