Hello!

I’ve just began night shift and need some help with ideas for dinners that I can cook during the day and that my hubby can easily re-heat to feed himself and the kids while I’m at work… any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Do you have any quick meal ideas to prepare in advance?

  • Slow cooked beef strogonof. Just put all the ingredients in the slow cooker and it will be ready for your dinner. No mess, no stress in the kitchen.

  • apricot chicken or sweet and sour chick – maybe done in the slow cooker if you have one. fritatas are great and healthy too.

  • Become besties with the slow cooker! My favourite lately has been putting on a heap of meat (cheap cuts like blade roast, gravy, etc), slow cooking in literally any kind of sauce (e.g. smokey bbq), then shredding. Can use on burgers, wraps, tacos, enchiladas, or just with a salad or vegetables. Very easy & versatile for leftovers.

  • Great!Really interesting reading the comments on this!

  • Spag Bol, stir fry, pasta bake, tuna bake,

  • meat and veg in a casserole is one, also lasangia veggie or meat, spaghetti sauce added all you can reheat, soups too are good standby too when it gets colder delicious it is true.

  • there are some good comments here

  • Layered casseroles, pasta & lasagne, slow/ multi cooker recipes, that can be cooked and kept warm in the same appliance to save on clean up.

  • There are some good slow cooker and casserole recipes under the Dinner tab on the MoM recipes section – got a lot of good ideas myself and also different ways of making meals I already do.

  • Some good suggestions here. I make a lot of casseroles.

  • Hope you were able to get some good ideas.

  • What ideas did you like?

  • Anything really just make during the day when your not sleeping and put in freezer or fridge for when its dinner time for them.

  • Invest in some 750mm takeaway containers & bake quantities of Lasagne, Lamb Mousakka, Green red & yellow curries, Beef stroganoff & ‘wet’ dishes like apricot & honey mustard chicken. Cook sides of rice to be frozen separately and blanch and freeze portions of vegetables too. Have a crisper of salad made up for an easy meal if you only feel like snacking or a lite meal (hide the chips!) Quiches and frittatas will also last refrigerated for a few days!

  • Fried Rice, curries, roasted chicken, seafood Noodles, rendang.
