Hello!

After some mummy feedback please. My daughter is almost 18mths. She is still in rear facing seat as the marked line as to where her shoulders should be before forward facing (3 in 1 seat) is like far away. I realise this marking is on actual cover of seat and if i pull and push and ‘fix’ it somewhat she would be closer to that line. Should I just turn her round? What are the risks? Obviously that marker line is there for a reason. My older two who are now teens would never be still in the capsules at this age. Yes she was and is little. What do you all think? Thanks for taking time to answer.

  • I would leave her until she has reached the line, age doesnt matter bit height does.

  • I turned my first approx. 12months. They say it’s safest to have them rear facing. So as long as she still in within the markers I would keep her that way.

  • At eighteen months of age I should think she’s old enough for forward facing. I like to use RAC shops for advice on this type of stuff

  • I think keep her rear facing as long as you can, it’s safer!

  • Once they are able to hold their heads on their own it is generally considered safe to have them in a forward facing seat. All of my children were forward facing at about 6 months.

  • I am surprised your baby isn’t already too tall to be backwards facing. Most at that age have legs too long to be pressed up against the car seat. Most at that age also like to be able to see where they are going. Obviously your baby doesn’t suffer from travel sickness at all as lying down they can choke on their own vomit.

  • I turned my daughters car seat front facing when she was 6 months old. I’ve been told that as long as your child can hold themselves up when sitting on the floor that it is safe for them to be facing forwards in the car. There are always going to be risks involved but that’s only because you are a car and you have to deal with all the other looneys on our roads. How safe is your car? Do u have side window airbags? How old is your car? I have a fairly new car so I have all the safety features but if u don’t as long as you are a good and safe driver I don’t think you will have any issues.

  • Keep her in the rear position if possible:)

  • Keep her in the rear position if possible

  • Rearward facing is the safest way for little ones to travel so if she fits and is happy facing backwards, keep her in the rear facing position.

  • there are some good comments here

  • did you end up changing her around

  • I think I change my little on around the 6 to 8 month age. He is quite a tall boy

  • Did you end up changing it?

  • Leave her rear facing until she is bigger. Check with the company who manufactured the capsule and they will advise you correctly. The marks are there for a reason, to protect the child and to meet Australian Safety Standards.
