Hello!

I need some tips. I’m finding packing difficult (she’s at the holding onto furniture stage, so she is into everything). I’m worried about cleaning and the disruption on her. Thanks

  • get a baby sitter! pack when she’s asleep

  • she will be fine. i agree with the portacot idea or baby barrier/playpen and she will be happy to watch for awhile and make sure to take advantage of her naps (even though you will be tired)

  • Don’t worry too much, it should be fine!!

  • We moved house with my six month old & it wasn’t quite as hard as what I thought it was. If you have family or friends it would be great if they could help you out

  • Pop up your portacot and pop her in that while you pack. We did this and it was great. We could keep her close and it kept her fascinated too. Best of luck.

  • I am sure she will be fine, give her something to keep her occupied

  • A playpen is a good idea

  • Younger children cope very well with moving

  • get a playpen to keep her in and out of danger

  • I feel your pain – I am about to move with a 3 year old, and she is already “helping”… I am going to give her her own box, and let her pack and unpack to her hearts content. With a little one, try decorating a box for her to play in while you pack.

  • i think it would be good if there is a friend or family member to ask for help when we are moving next year.

  • ask a family member to help out

  • We’ve lived in 4 houses in 4 years as my husband is in the Army and now have a 4 year old and 2 yr old. Kids are extremely resilient. Our girls have managed very well these last 2 moves. As she is too young to help I would set her up in a safe area, maybe a lounge area or playroom, with a gate so that she cannot come into rooms with items being packed and give her activities to entertain her. Maybe put her in a highchair at various times during the day in the room in which you are packing if you feel uncomfortable with her moving around the room and give her a snack or activity. Takes breaks together outside. You will get through it. Good luck.

  • I just moved with an infant and a 21mo. Thankfully on the actual move day nanny was visiting (dad had to dash off to his mums farm the night before, due to bushfire alarms ). But I just packed everything into 1 room and closed that room off to the toddler. My handles were high, so that helped.

  • I moved with a 2 month old and 2.5yr old, the trick I found was to wear the toddler on my back in an Ergo and put the baby in a bassinet while we worked
