I’ve got wrist pain near my thumb. My doctor told me it is De quervein syndrome. I have a four month old baby who likes to sit on my hands. Does anyone else have this? If so how do you manage with your kids? Thank you

  • I had never heard of the condition either but thank you as I’m now going to do what Mrs Bucket did and google it to find out more information. The statics are pretty high by the look of it. Best of luck.

  • I hope you find the answer, I have never heard of it but sometimes I get pains in the wrists so I am going to google it.

  • I had a similar pain in my thumb area after having both children. It just went away on its own. Good luck.

  • I have never heard of this at all hope you manage to get it all sorted out and the pain goes away.

  • My friend was diagnosed a few months ago, and had the same issue – her 5 month old would sit on her hands. She has stopped him doing that, and holds him higher up against her chest – she says it hurts less, and he can snuggle closer.

  • I have what you have to the point i now have what looks like an extra bone just below my wrist bone. i got a wrist band with magnets in it from the chemist warehouse and when i feel the pain and tingles i put this on and it helps support the wrist area and the tingles and pain are aleaviated, good luck

  • I have never heard of this, goodluck in managing it though

  • I’ve never heard of your syndrome before and had to Google it and found out it’s commonly known as ‘Mummy Thumb’ as almost 50% of all news mums get it – learn something new every day.

I can’t offer you any practical advice but will send you cyber best wishes and hope you find some relief from your condition and some answers on here.

  • i haven’t heard of it either, i wish you the best :)

  • Never heard of it sorry. But did wanted to wish u speedy recovery so you can take care of yourself and you child better :)

  • I have severe osteo-arthritis at the base of both thumbs, and it causes horrendous pain. I also have marked loss of function. I’m waiting to have surgery on both hands, and apart from pain-killers, the only thing that helps me is wearing splints on each hand. At least with splints, I have some strength in my hands, and can do some normal activities. If I were you, I wouldn’t let bub sit on your hands, and I would seek a physiotherapist, with a view to treatment and possible splints being made for you.

  • Basically its just inflammation of the tendon near your thumb I wouldn’t be sitting your baby on your hands which my be the cause of it. Its like a repetitive strain injury. Try a splint which you can get for chemist but I would go to see a physio for some treatment.

  • sorry i have not heard of this so can’t help you. good luck getting advice.

  • I found this information I hope you find it helpful. I had never heard of it before.

  • Sorry haven’t heard of this try Google search.
