Hello!

After some much needed advice!! Trying to find ways to save money as we are in a tough spot financially at the moment and I noticed aldi has baby formula. Has anyone used it? Was it ok? And how do I go about changing her over to a different brand? Thanks so much!

  • Used Aldi formula with twins and had absolutely no issues at all. Same with their nappies. As mentioned- all Australian formula is stringently monitored and approved, so all are quite similar in terms of ingredients and nutrients. (Excluding of course formulas like soy, goat milk etc – these are of course stringently monitored too, but not the same as “normal” formulas) its Just the branding and the price that’s different.
As for changing over – I just used the new formula. Bubs didn’t notice and no specific change over process.

  • We never tried Aldi – I never saw it, to be honest – but found my kids switched between brands easily. They didn’t seem to notice, so I’d just try it without saying anything.

  • All baby formulas on supermarket shelves in Australia have passed stringent testing, they wouldn’t be on our shelves if they were not nutritionally competent. That’s why the Asians are stealing it all and selling it back home for exhirbitant prices, because it’s excellent quality

  • there are some good comments here

  • I have no idea on formula but just remember that a big advertising budget does not mean big ingredient budget

  • how did the change go, what did you go to

  • I would check the nutritional data on the back of the tin and compare it with what you are giving your baby, ask your baby clinic nurse or playgroup friends for feedback. You may find she refuses a different formula to the one she is used to. good luck

  • Found that she didn’t have as much reflux on the aldi formula.

  • We started with Nan Pro Gold as thats what the hospital supplied. Whilst a slightly different water to powder ratio, the ingredients and amounts of goodies found in the aldi formula were very similar to what is found in nan pro. so we gave it a shot, and it has worked for us

  • Have you checked if they are Australian made? if they are quite safe as we have strict regulations when it comes to baby formulas.

  • Did you end up giving the Aldi formula a try?

  • how did you go? :)

  • What have you decided to do?

  • haven’t used it personally but have friends who do and love it

  • I’ve never tried it sorry but I guess it would be worth a shot if it will save you some money. You could try to gradually move her over to the different brand.
