Hello!

It has been going on for about a month now. We have a night light, leave the door open, occasionally it is justified for the blanket to be adjusted as he is cold but mostly for comfort. I know these stages are natural but any ideas that have helped you.

  • My eldest was the worst for this at this age.
I found just quietly moving her back to her bed and reassuring her each time she came in helped.
Like you sometimes it was warranted but a lot of the time it became a game.

I found if I didn’t fuss too much and didn’t say too much just kept throng calm and quiet she wouldn’t return until morning.

It can feel difficult and sometimes mean to move them back but they need as much sleep as you do and you will all feel better for it in the morning x

  • Some toddlers develop a very vivid imagination and seem to have what is commonly known as night terrors. like some adults have nightmares. One of ours used to start screaming then literally run into our bedroom. When he was about 4 y.o. he would tell us in the morning if he had a dream during the night and whether it was a good one or a bad one. He sometimes climbed onto our bed without waking us. Sometimes he curled up at the foot of the bed and we would find him there in the morning. You could try putting a t-shirt on under his pjamas to keep his body warmer especially if your child tends to move around during sleep, or perhaps tends to sleep with arms uncovered. They tend to be better than singlets as they tend to roll up and be uncomfortable across their backs

  • Try your child to fall asleep on their own by having them go to bed drowsy but awake. Sometimes, moving their bedtime later by 30 minutes may help.

  • Would be interesting to know too. My 2 yo wakes up at night and comes straight to my bed. The habit is there, I don’t even know how to get rid of it. Sorry I cannot help, but you are definitely not alone :)

  • It’s so tough! We have a quick cuddle and then pop them back to their bed. As otherwise a habit is formed.

  • Just let think if someting happand…someting changed or scared in last few weeks?
