  • Sounds like she may be suffering from post natal and having that many young children is a huge task! The best thing that you can do is be there for her, a listening ear when she wants to talk, and also being present to help her with the kids. Look after them for a few hours so she can go and do something she enjoys, do some house work, cook some meals.

  • You need to get her to see a Dr as soon as possible. Sounds like she definitely needs someone to talk to, possibly a prescription for medication now

  • Hope things are better for your daughter’s health. Agree with the other comments about support from GP and being there for her. Helping with the children and giving her some time for herself might help for her to feel supported and know you care. Most importantly tell her you care often. Let her know she is loved with words and actions.

  • do be there for her and provide support and get her to see her doc if she hasn’t already

  • Gosh, a hard one. My daughter too has suffered from depression, so I always worry about her in case I miss something. Only suggestion I have is to try and get medical help for her. Or maybe get her to chat to someone on Lifeline, that’s totally anonymous so she can speak freely

  • I can really relate to this. I suffer severe depression myself. Has she been to her GP? That is usually the first port of call. The GP can do a mental health care plan for her, which enables her to see a psychologist for 10 sessions at a reduced price. Also, many clinics now have a mental health nurse. They are a great resource for help. Has she tried anti-depressants? These can be really beneficial. If she is in real crisis and is talking self harm or suicide, contact your local mental health team asap. They are able to do an assessment and either visit her at home or admit her to hospital if required. I wish you both all the very best. Please feel free to ask anything else. I will help all I can. It’s just soooooo hard when you are overwhelmed with depression to be a mum. Much love to you all. X
