Hello!

I’ve never really talked about using tampons with my twelve year old. She’s had her period two years! Should I explain that option.

  • I bought now period briefs for my daughter, I think they’re an ideal option too !

  • My daughter received a pack at primary school that contained tampons (and more). My daughter is 16yrs now and still doesn’t want to use tampons, she thinks it’s scary and is afraid that the cord will break (which happened btw once to me).

  • No one knows your child and their maturity levels like you do, but I found my daughter knew about tampons early on, but when we spoke about it, she really was not interested in using them. She was a bit frightened actually and it made her first summer hard. I just made sure she knew she could ask me anything and broached the subject with her occasionally over the months. I also was really clear about confirming things with me, not just her friends or friends sisters. You could start by asking if she knows what they are (they do usually cover it in school education sessions at here age) and see if she is interested in knowing more.
