Hello!

Having a fussy eater with constipation is not easy. Any idea to encourage my kid to eat veggies?

  • Hiding veggies in food like pasta and sausage rolls

  • I think stewed fruit or kiwi fruit and lots of water might help.

  • Stewed pears work for my (fussy) little guy. Prune juice if they will take it too.

  • Prune or apple juice is great for constipation. As is stewed fruit, especially pears

  • Grapes are good for constipation and whole grain bread is better than white bread for the bowels. Also plenty of water and physical activity. Have you tried growing some veges??

  • I bought the book deceptively delicious. It’s treat that are made with veggies that are hidden. Broccoli, cauliflower etc all puréed. You can get it from any bookstore but try book depository online they are usually cheaper and it’s free delivery.
    Good luck!!!!

  • Apple juice and pear juice help with constipation too.

  • Have a sipper filled with water in close reach to keep fluids, and take to a park for some physical activity.

  • I know this scenario all too well! The gp and pharmacist didn’t recommend anything other than drinking water – even that was an issue – I spoon fed her water on occasion to try and get some into her! I boiled prunes to make a juice , shredded the prunes and put them into yogurt (a fav food). Potato, starchy foods, banana thats not overly ripe are all blamed for constipation. Pear juice is meant to work (they give it to people in nursing homes), I water it down.
Vegies in food – we use the food processor or grater to add zucchini carrot onion and whatever else we can sneak in and use that with mince for meatballs ( tomato sauce if they don’t like them plain) and lasagne. I read don’t give up and don’t assume they don’t like something. The hundredth time( ie over a few months) my daughter was offered something she started eating it. Seeing other children eat those things helps too

  • prunes are a good thing to eat to help move things a long!

  • A little brown sugar on a teaspoon with warm water aides in constipation. Any small pueces of fruit is good. Maybe offer one slice of apple, a dried apricot. .

  • Will your child eat pureed fruit?? My son is very fussy and I find he will eat the fruit squeezie pouches from the supermarket. I buy those from when he is constipated. Seem to work well for him….

  • It’s most likely from bit drinking enough water. Try and get them to drink as much as possible during the day and this should help. Try and make it fun – they might like ice cubes added or slices of fruit. Try and avoid too much bread and processed cards for a few days and see if this helps. Remember when upping fibre intake you also need to up water intake too. Fruit is usually a good one for getting the hotels moving. Good luck!
