Hello!

What food guidelines should I be looking at to help get my husband off blood pressure tablets? He also needs to loose weight too. There’s so many cooking books, I don’t know which one I need to look at? Don’t want to break the bank either!

  • Simple answer eat clean no processed no sugar no added salt think protein and vegetables

  • Healthy food cookbooks and books on blood pressure can be borrowed from the library and it may help with finding recipes and ideas for meals. The Heart Foundation may be able to offer support and guidance too.

  • A GP can assist with diet and strategies and a dietician/nutritionist can provide support and diet plans. They should be able to advise on cookbooks too. Check reviews for good cook books too.

  • I invested in a air fryer.l now do most of my cooking in it. You have no idea how much fat comes out of even the healthy meats ,pork , chicken,.It means we can still have the foods we like but without the guilt. We also decided to reduce our portions . Exercise is good, for us a little difficult but we do our best . Good luck.

  • Cook from scratch is the healthiest. Get rid of packet meals and jars. Avoid tge usual culprits of cakes, biscuits etc And exercise daily
