This is hard because it’s tough enough to find your confidence when bub is small without having people undermine it. Stand your ground. Noone should touch a sleeping baby unless a parent asks them to. Speak up and say you need to get them home for a proper sleep or whatever and leave if they can’t respect you as the parent.

This is definitely not okay. You don’t pick up a sleeping baby. That’s not on. I think you need to let your partner know that it makes you unhappy and he needs to step in and control his family. No way my hubby would let his family walk all over us like that.

Yes, set rules and boundaries as your family grows. Make sure your husband is 100% onboard with the rules so he too can reinforce them. Texting and phoning ahead of time making a time that suits baby and you all. With Covid changing how we live it’s easier to enforce rules around touching baby. Let people know that it is not ok to take him out of the pram without permission from Mum or Dad. (That’s just basic manners!) If you want guests invite them and have days where you are not available. Don’t let this get you down. Choose your friends who are doing the right thing to help you and support your thoughts. Spend time with people you enjoy their company.

I really think you should speak up.
Especially the case where he was asleep in the pram and just grabbed – I honestly would have gone off my head.
Make sure you’re assertive and don’t go and drive too see them, make them come to you.
If they want you to drive there just say you’re busy.

I think you need a good clear boundary talk. It’s your child, your rules
for example;
* welcome to visit, but no unannounced visits as baby has it’s routine
* text or call at least 1 or 2 days ahead if you would like to visit
* I would lock front and back door to prevent them just walking in
* no picking up baby when he’s sleeping
* no picking up baby without asking permission from mum or dad
* respect mum & dad & babies boundaries otherwise we will need to take distance
* etc

I think your concerns are legitimate and you should speak to your partner and ask your partner to speak to their family on your behalf. I think it’s also up to you to let them know what you do and don’t want. It can be tricky but if you phrase it right, they should (hopefully) start taking your feelings into consideration.
