Hello!

My toddler who was a dream to get down for a nap or at night time has become a nightmare when it comes to bed. She is only 1 1/2 and it can take up to an hour to get her down even if she is exhausted. I used to be able to pop her straight into bed and she would go to sleep. Now if I pop her down she won’t go to sleep on her own if I leave her to go off she won’t and sometimes with me it takes ages. Is anyone or has anyone experienced this at this age? Is a phase?

  • Is she all of a sudden afraid of something? We have monster spray in our house (A spray bottle filled with water and a few drops of lavender oil) and we spray before bed (lavender helps to calm and send to sleep also)

  • I do agree with the others here, it tends to be a phase and it will be just be a case of finding a pre bedtime routine that works for you all and sticking with it.

  • Sometimes sleep nurses and clinics can help?

  • It is a normal phase-but get some support with sleep if you are concerned.

  • Yes I think it’s just a phase. An annoying one at that! I just sit next to the cot, don’t make eye contact, and pat or shush if needed. They soon get the message, especially if she’s tired.

  • yes they do this! try to get her into a bedtime routine. We do dinner, bath, a little play or tv time and then into bed for a story. Give her a nightlight and try to keep her room distraction free if possible or chuck all her toys into a toybox.

  • It’s just a stage they go through :)
Mix of seperation anxiety and teething.
My son is 2 and a half years and still goes through this at times.
Just keep reassuring your baby that you’re there and be a little stern as well.
New routine wouldn’t go astray too.
    :)

  • My 13 month old won’t sleep at all during the day and night can be a struggle. I have no advice but sending strength because I know it gets tough

  • Yes. This is normal. They go through seperation anxiety stages, as well as teething. It will pass. Sending hugs

  • they do definetly go through phases like this – my 2 year old has stopped having his daytime sleeps most days and it drives me crazy (yet he will go down at daycare). Maybe try some different bedtime routines such as quiet time before sleep or see if something they are eating might be keeping them awake. good luck and hope she settles again soon.
