Hello!

Hi Guys,
My friends are all trying to encourage me to join a dating site called Oasis. I am quite apprehensive. Have you had any experiences or some hints and tips. I don’t think it is going to be for me…. I think I am probably hoping for horror stories so I can say to my friends – see, told you it wasn’t a good idea!! Ta Kaz

  • I have a friend who found her husband via a dating site.
I have a daughter who shows harmful and risky behaviours and last year she used my husbands bank account to secretly subscribe to a dating website. She was only 11yrs old and received many emails trying to track her down….scary !

  • Each to their own but I don’t like the idea of online dating. I know so many people who have been catfished.
I’ve never done online dating, I’d prefer to meet someone out somewhere. That way you can’t pick every feature, you can have a real conversation and you won’t be as nervous about meeting them after speaking to them because you already have.

  • My experiences weren’t good. I was horrified by the number of married men who admitted they were just looking for an affair. I mean, how many were there who WEREN’T admitting that up front?

  • I wouldn’t. I read a story just today about a poor woman who was the victim of cat fishing. You just never know who you’re chatting to online

  • I met my husband on an online site called Lava Life. I haven’t had experience with oasis but it can’t hurt to try. Sometimes in this day and age it can be so hard to meet people. I was also able to make some friends on online dating sites too.

  • I haven’t done online dating but as long as you don’t give out personal information you should be fine, good luck!

  • I think two of my brothers have found their second wives on RSVP site and on TV they keep advertising the new one E-Harmony a while back and it looks decent from TV perspective. I remembered a while back one of my brothers even showed it to me and how he looked into it and he always approached with caution. Both of my brother’s wives are exactly what they were after . Normally they find each other within local area and as ususal always meet at a public place for obvious reason . A lot of people are totally against it , but if used properly it may be the best thing you have ever done . Good luck .

  • lol i don’t know, i have never done it but just be wary of who you talk to first. good luck!

  • I would be very careful of online dating. Even if it’s a reputable sight, that’s not a sign that there’s no sleaze bags on its files

  • I and most of my friends met our partners through friends, or friends of friends. Perhaps your friends could introduce you to any single men they know.

  • Good luck with it! It sounds interesting and fun!

  • I’ve heard of positives why not give it a try? :)

  • bless, thank you all for your support and words of wisdom!

  • There are a lot of great dating sites around and a lot if happy endings from them. There’s also a lot of dodgey sites and terrible tales of woe. So you need to be really careful with his you approach it

  • I friend of mine joined an online dating site (rsvp) and are now married.
I hope this doesn’t turn you off but be warned; there are a few “strange” people on these sites, I remember my friend telling me that in the first 24 hrs she had heaps of people on the said site message her, many she declined further contact.
Just make sure if you meet, meet in a very public place.
