Hello!

We had this question submitted via Facebook Messenger from a mum who has asked for advice. If you’ve been through this with your children, we’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments below.

We also asked certified Baby & Infant Sleep Consultant Aprilla Quayle from Bubba Bedtime for her advice. Aprilla who has worked with hundreds of babies and exhausted families, providing them with professional support and advice to get their babies’ sleep back on track.

Here are some great tips from Aprilla to ease a child’s congestion and help them relax so that everyone can sleep easier …

Develop a lovely wind-down routine before bedtime is a great way to help your baby calm and relax before sleep time.

Give your child a lovely bath just before bedtime. This helps release melatonin, the sleepy hormone, which will help them sleep for longer and deeper. The steam from the bath will also help ease their congestion.

When congested your little one’s body temperature might fluctuate, so dress them accordingly making sure they are not too hot or too cold.

Having a warm steam vaporiser in bub’s room overnight can really help relieve their congestion. It can also act as a white noise machine helping baby sleep better with the noise putting them into a deeper sleep.
